Kit Kat Cake: The Review

Classic yellow cake~Chocolate fudge icing

This recipe is the easiest I’ve ever made. There’s not much to it. Just bake the cake, ice it, add the Kit Kat’s, and top it with the M&M’s. I do have some suggestions though, because you are working with a lot of chocolate.

First, purchase at least four packages of Kit Kat’s (the big packets). You’ll have extra, but it’s important. Three packets are just enough, and you’ll most likely break some. Have extra on hand. Also, you’ll only need one bag of M&M’s. You most likely won’t even use the entire thing. I didn’t.

I recommend sticking the Kit Kat’s in the freezer while you’re baking the cake. Your hands are going to be all over them when you’re putting them on the cake, so it’ll work better when they’re frozen; they won’t melt as quickly, if at all. Also, because the chocolate will be very brittle when you’re breaking them, I recommend doing so with a knife, or using your whole hands to break them, rather than your fingers. I broke around five or six XD

Let the cake cool completely, as usual. Again, a lot of chocolate. It’ll melt if you don’t.

Be generous with the icing on the sides. Your Kit Kat’s need to stick, and they’ll have some strain when you dump the M&M’s on top. The icing is a great paste, so add a lot of it.

I have yet to actually cut into the cake, so I suppose I’ll do a follow-up when I finally do.

Made another rainbow smarty cake. This one’s for my lovely friend Lizzy’s 19th Birthday :) Happy Birthday Lizzy.

P.s.: Maybe I should just start a food blog….??

DIY Chocolate Easter Egg Wreath. This could not go on the outside door at my house because the squirrels and chipmunks would find it and eat themselves to death and that would not be festive. Same with the roundup of Peep wreaths I posted here. But I still like them. From BeaG on Craftster here.
